Hopi Culture
 | Hopi are born into groups called clans, which are named after
animals, birds, or things in nature. |
 | The clans are taken care of by a clan woman, who is old, and also
by her brother. |
 | There are three Hopi main ritual dances: the Snake Dance, a
Pueblo Prayer Drama, and Prayers for a Bountiful Life. |
 | According to Hopi tradition, The Hopi
emerged from the Third World into this current Fourth World. This life is
therefore referred to as the Fourth Way of Life for the Hopi. |
 | The Hopi language is of the
Uto-Aztecan language family, which is spoken from Idaho in the north to
Central America in the south. Hopi is a separate branch within Northern
Uto-Aztecan, of the Shoshone dialect. |
